Introduction:
Shivapuri Day Hiking takes you at the height of 2,535 m high within pristine surroundings, located straight north direction from Kathmandu city and surrounding valley situated high of the valley rim, which falls within Shivapuri Watershed and a Wild-Life Reserve. Later, it was made it into as Shivapuri National Park.
Shivapuri Day Hiking an interesting day hike of 3-4 hours walks takes you with a short drive towards the holy site of Hindu temple Buddhanilkanta or Narayanthan with an idol of sleeping Lord Vishnu on a bed of serpent.
From here enter the park premises with a visit of Nagi monastery an interesting peaceful area for Buddhist Nun. Further, climb into the nice cool shade of the forest to reach on top of Shivapuri Hill at 2,535 m high.
Finally, reaching on the top you will witness a few huts of the Shiva temple nearby and enjoy the dramatic scenery of Kathmandu city. Similarly, the valley with a range of rolling hills includes a wide panorama of a snow-capped mountain range. Such as, views of Manaslu, Ganesh, and Langtang with Jugal Himal range that extends further east towards Dorji Lakpa and Gaurishankar peaks.
After all, a delightful moment descends back to the exit gate of Shivapuri National Park and drive back to your hotel, with a wonderful day hike on Shivapuri Hill.
Day Hike Details:
After breakfast, our guide receives you for an interesting short drive towards north from the city of Kathmandu to reach the exciting small town of Narayanthan. Significantly, an ancient Hindu temple where you can witness idols of sleeping Lord Vishnu within a large water pool.
After a holy site of Buddhanilkanta’s short drive to reach the entrance of Shivapuri Watershed and Wildlife Reserve. Presently, known as a Shivapuri National Park.
From the entrance gate, walk within a cool shade of forest with rhododendron-pines-fir-magnolia and oak tree lines. Then, with a short climb visit Nagi Gompa, a Buddhist monastery for Nuns.
With an interesting tour of the monastery and observing Nun and priest on religious activities. Furthermore, carry on with climb for few hours in the shade of alpine forested tree line to reach on top Shivapuri Hill at above 2,535 m high.
Additionally, enjoy a dramatic panorama of a mountain range from Ganesh-Langtang to Jugal Himal range with views of Kathmandu valley below.
Overall, Shivapuri a nice spot within a tranquil environment full of bird-life like magpies, sunbirds, and ruby throats found around this scenic serene hill.
After a pleasant stop with a scenic moment, return walk on a downhill to the gate of the park. Then, short drive back to your hotels with refreshing and scenic time on a day hike to Shivapuri Hill.
